Return Me Homes ("we", "us", "the service") makes customisable QR and NFC tags for pets and belongings. This policy explains what personal information we collect through returnme.homes, why we collect it, and how it's protected — for both tag owners and the people who find a lost item and use the site to contact them.
| From | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Owners, when claiming a tag | Name shown on the tag, an optional note, email, optional phone, preferred contact method | To activate the tag and know how to reach you when it's found |
| Owners, when signing in with Google | Name and email from your Google account | To create and secure your account, and to let you manage your tags without a separate password |
| Finders, when contacting an owner | Their message, and optionally their own contact details and approximate location | To relay the message to the owner. Finder contact details and location are never required — only the message is |
| Everyone, automatically | That a tag's page was viewed, and when | Basic usage tracking so we know a tag is actually being scanned |
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
We use a small number of service providers to run the site. Each only sees what it needs to do its job:
Some of these providers may store or process data on servers located outside Australia. We choose providers that meet recognised security and privacy standards, and we don't disclose personal information to anyone else without your consent unless required by law.
We keep tag and account information for as long as the tag is active or the account exists. If you suspend or delete a tag, or ask us to delete your account, we'll remove the associated personal information within a reasonable time, except where we're required to keep records for legal reasons.
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To do any of these, or if you have a complaint about how we've handled your information, email hello@returnme.homes — we'll respond as soon as we can.
If you're a finder using the contact form, your browser may ask permission to share your approximate location. This is entirely optional, only used to help the owner understand where their item was found, and only sent if you allow it.
Return Me Homes is intended for adults registering their own pets or belongings. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
